5 Of The Best Romantic Scenes In Movies

5 Of The Best Romantic Scenes In Movies

What would Valentine’s Day be without our favourite weepy rom-com? It was tough to narrow it down, but we’ve chosen (arguably, of course) five of the most romantic scenes in film. Watch, grab the tissues and?enjoy.

Jerry Maguire

He had her at hello; he had us at hello, and he had us all weeping when he uttered the words, “you complete me.” Cameron Crowe’s breakout film Jerry Maguire remains Tom Cruse’s best effort and is quite underrated. The film is full of many brilliant moments and killer one-liners (no, you show me the money) but it’s the final scene that melts our hearts every damn time.

The Notebook

Because true love never dies. We all loved it when Noah roared at Allie about writing her every day for a year, before they both realise that they can’t be without each other. We almost die with happiness each time we watch this.

Love Actually

Andrew Lincoln’s character’s love of Keira Knightley’s Juliet may be unrequited, but this is a beautiful scene all the same. Okay, yes, he is proclaiming his love for his best friend’s wife, but still. The cards, the wording on the cards and the look he gives her before he turns to walk away is utterly heart-wrenching.

Notting Hill

Arguably one of the most quoted movie scenes in Hollywood history, this moment between Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts is just perfect.

“I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.” We can’t cope.

When Harry Met Sally

This timeless classic is here for many reasons. Firstly Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are possibly the most adorable on-screen movie couple, ever. Secondly, it’s further proof that Meg Ryan was perfect when she was on top of her film game and finally, never have we wanted a happy ending more. It’s the infamous restaurant scene that stands out for many, but if the below clip doesn’t tug at your heartstrings, we don’t know what will. Opposites attract, become best friends and realise they’ve loved each other for years = the best romantic ending going.

Have you a favourite that hasn’t made our top five? Tell us in the comments.
