Saoirse Ronan Lands Vanity Fair Hollywood Cover Alongside Helen Mirren And Diane Keaton

Saoirse Ronan landed the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue, it was revealed last night. And it featured nothing but women. That’s what you call a superficial but somewhat effective win for diversity in the movie industry, a place actresses aren’t exactly lashing with praise regarding gender equality.

The Brooklyn actress featured alongside?Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlotte Rampling, Brie Larson, Rachel Weisz, Lupita Nyong?o, Alicia Vikander, Gugu Mbatha-Raw (who has been incredible in everything we’ve seen her in so far and deserves your attention), Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan, and Diane Keaton – who clearly sticks to her distinctive style guns no matter what. 13 of the best actresses currently on the screen, we’ll be having that. Although maybe our love for veteran Charlotte Rampling isn’t what it used to be. The Academy Award nominated soul made some pretty dismissive comments regarding the totally legitimate #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Rampling said of the outcry over the lack of non-white nominations,??One can never really know, but perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list.”

Not cool Chaz.

Ronan and company were shot by famous photographer?Annie Leibovitz with make-up by our all time favourite Instagrammer Pati Dubroff, who posted this portrait from the shoot last night.

Ronan’s next big role is in Chekhov’s The Seagull,?where she will be starring opposite Annette Bening and Elisabeth Moss. First up though, she has a small little thing called the Oscars…
