The IFTA Film & Drama Awards 2016 Nominations Are Here

The Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) – which celebrates the best of TV and Irish film over the past 12 months – have just released their nominations for the 2016 ceremony, taking place early next month.

The four-part western TG4 series An Klondike leads nominations with nine nods, while?Lenny Abrahamson’s Room, John Carney’s Sing Street and My Name is Emily, directed by Simon Fitzmaurice, and RTE series Rebellion received eight nominations each. Having just finished its award season run, Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan (up for Best Actress) and Domhnall Gleeson (up for his role in Ex-Machina), has earned seven nominations as has Viva, directed by Paddy Breathnach.

Also featuring in the nominations are Colin Farrell for True Detective and The Lobster, Aidan Turner for Poldark, Liam Cunningham for Game of Thrones and Caitriona Balfe for Outlander, while Sarah Greene earned her second nomination for Penny Dreadful.

It’s a night to be proud of our thriving film industry for all its success over the past year.?The IFTA Flim & Drama Awards 2016 take place at the Round Room at the Mansion House on Saturday, April 9th.
