Jody Plows: A week in my wardrobe

Bringing a wealth of fashion and retail experience with her, Jody Plows joined Nobody’s Child in 2020, starting out as an adviser before working her way up to her current role as CEO of the company. A huge fan of the brand’s designs, her style is simple yet polished. She shares a week in her wardrobe below.

MONDAY

I’m a big believer in the power of a great outfit to transform your day and as the CEO of Nobody’s Child, there’s no other brand I’d prefer to be wearing than my own. I’m so proud of the designs my team create and as a responsible retailer, we make our collections from lower-impact fabrics. This Monday I’m kicking off a busy schedule in our brand-new crew neck waistcoat. I’m an early riser (my alarm goes off at 5am) so I get into the office before the working day starts and snap a quick selfie in the studio whilst it’s quiet.

TUESDAY

I’m surrounded by my team’s beautiful designs all day so I guess ending up with a wardrobe full of them was always inevitable! We posted a sneak peek of this dress on Instagram after we got back from our Ibiza campaign shoot and were overwhelmed with the amount of customers asking when it would be available online. As a responsible brand, we buy our styles in small quantities. This style is called Zelda and it’s absolutely stunning in lightly crinkled satin. There are only a few hundred of this particular dress available and I’m so pleased I managed to nab one. I’ll be wearing it on repeat this summer.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, I was in back-to-back sign-off meetings, planning SS25 with my design and buying team. Even though I work across all areas of the business, I’m a product person at heart and nothing makes me happier than a day spent reviewing next season’s samples. The sun finally came out in London so I chose to wear another dress. The leopard print trend is showing no sign of going anywhere!

THURSDAY

Every couple of months, my whole head office team comes together to celebrate each other and it’s my favourite moment in the calendar. We believe that kind words create the most rewarding ripple effect so everyone nominates a colleague (or two!) that they feel has gone above and beyond that month. My leadership team take to the mic and we read out every single one, toasting the winners with a glass of something fizzy. I wore one of my favourite dresses from the summer collection for the occasion. Knitted from organic cotton, this green midi is perfect for weather that can’t quite make up its mind.

FRIDAY

I’m rounding off the week with a dinner reservation. This season, one-shoulder styles are back and this midi is so easy to wear with a shirred bodice that flares out into a full skirt – it’s even got pockets! I wear it with sandals in the office before switching into heels for date night with my lovely husband, Jon. The old saying is true: you just can’t go wrong with a black dress.

SATURDAY

I’ve been waiting for this moment all week! Saturdays are usually spent relaxing with family and our much-loved dog Belah – however this weekend I’ve got tickets to a concert. I’m going with old friends and I’m getting dressed up. I chose this black midi from our collection for a night filled with dancing. Lined with fabric-covered buttons and a fold-over trim, it’s different from anything I already own and I love it!

SUNDAY

On Sunday I wore a comfortable co-ord from our linen-infused collection. It’s like loungewear but so much more luxurious. Family time is really important to me and I cherish the moments I get with my kids. Every week we take it in turns to choose a movie. This week my daughter went for Beauty and the Beast so we all sat down and watched it together with popcorn. After a busy week, we’re back to being ‘mum and dad’ – a role I’m just as proud of.
