My Secret Weapon For Every Occasion? A Blazer

A blazer is one of those really useful things that can be made to look smart or casual with equal ease. I spend a lot of time at weekends wearing baggy jeans and T-shirts, which look instantly more cool and respectable with a blazer layered on top. Often I roll up the sleeves so the outfit feels more unified, and the tailoring less rigid and formal. Blazers also help dilute down the femininity of fluid skirts, ruffles and high heels, adding just the right amount of boyishness to suit me. Although I own several, there’s a few blazers on the high street right now I’m coveting for this season and next.

One style I don’t own is a longline blazer. I like the versatility of this piece from online store Uterque, because the jacket takes on a completely different character when it’s unbelted. Below, it looks super sophisticated and elegant, but when hanging loose, it’s got a slightly oversized, urban feel.

I adore this blazer. I have three very similar styles at home so I can’t justify the spend on another, but I think this piece is a really classic style that will never date. I love the textured wool, and the soft check print. This is a great way to add subtle pattern to an outfit.

Casual suiting is one of my favourite looks right now. This discreet print doesn’t overwhelm but adds a stylish point of different to the look. This jacket would work great mixed with stripes or polkadots, too.

The wrap tie detail of this & Other Stories blazer adds a contemporary yet feminine touch, and it suggests a double-breasted silhouette, which is very on-trend right now.
