We love following the adventures of interior designer Suzie McAdam on Instagram. Here, she shares her favourite trends and inspiring sources as well as taking us inside her modern monochrome new-build in Blackrock?
The first thing I did when I moved in to my house was… get rid of the cream walls. I can’t stand cream or yellow tones in paint! It had to be white/grey or cool tones.
My favourite thing about my home is??the fire orb. I will never tire of cosy nights in with a nice glass of wine, Netflix to binge on, and a roaring open fire after a hectic day ??pure bliss.
People visiting always say how much light and height there is. The house is on the smaller side, but it has an amazing sense of light and space due to some clever architecture tricks.
My biggest splurge was my Eames lounger and ottoman. I got an ex-display model but it is still an investment piece I will always have.
My smartest saving was my baby grand, which I picked up at a country-house contents auction for a bargain! It is probably one of my favourite pieces, and I treasure it.
In a fire, I would grab my dog/polar bear, Mischko the Samoyed followed by my MacBook!
My favourite interiors trend right now is pink and greenery. I’ve always been a girly girl at heart and adore all the dusky-pink hues in fabrics and accessories. I just have to persuade my other half to let me change from monochrome at home. (Pic below: Leslie Santarina for sfgirlbybay)

My big interior design tip for colour is that strong colour can add atmosphere. People are very dubious about using colour. Often, they fall back onto white as a failsafe option. I’m all for blurring the lines between floors, walls and ceilings, particularly in small spaces. Removing all the visual junctions makes rooms appear bigger, and far more sophisticated. Dark, inky hues can be an instant game changer, and even the simplest piece of furniture can look dramatic against a dark backdrop. Painting shelves the same colour as the walls can also make the objects on them appear to leap out.
