Hair dressing: the expert guide to styling your hair with accessories

Hair dressing: the expert guide to styling your hair with accessories

Classic barrettes at Simone Rocha, embellished clips at Ashley Williams and brooches in chignons at Chanel – dress your hair like it’s the 1990s again. The best bit? There’s no such thing as too much, says HOLLY O’NEILL.

Roy Leigh, hairstylist at Brown Sugar shares three tips for how to make it work.

Over party season, if your outfit is lacking something, use your hair to dress up your look by adding accessories. They suit all hairstyles, whether up or down, but my personal favourite is an accessorised, textured updo like a French twist.

Gucci crystal hair comb, €250

I wouldn’t work with freshly shampooed hair. Use dry products for this look, like L’Ore?al Professionnel Savage Panache, to make the hair texture more rough and lived-in. Then finish with a strong-hold hairspray.

Jennifer Behr embellished velvet hair bow, €160

As volume has made a huge comeback this season, over the festive period, add plenty of backcombing and volume in either your updo or blow-dry. And don’t be afraid when adding accessories – get creative; more is more!
