If Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel and Nars tell you to put glitter on your lips, you don’t question it
At Preen By Thornton Bregazzi, models wore gold leaf on foreheads and ears. At Erdem, it was a fragmented silver leaf on the eyes, inspired by Cecil Beaton’s high society portraiture. There were broken crystals on eyes at Halpern, gems on the eye at Giambattista Valli.
In lieu of a wardrobe of sequinned and feathered outfits to wear all month, tis the season for glitter everywhere else, namely eyes, nails and surprisingly, lips.
There are glitter lipsticks launching in droves and no, not in gloopy lipgloss formula for teenagers. Chanel, Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury and more leading luxury cosmetics legends are releasing grown-up glitter lipstick. It’s not quite the in-your-face sparkle of say, the broken metallic foil backstage at Simone Rocha, but it’s certainly more wearable to your Christmas Zoom party.
It’s also a lazy girl guide to beauty that looks like you made an effort, because glitter is the focus. Pair with a clean, barely-there base with lashings of mascara. These are the new glitter lipsticks to know for getting grown-up glitter lips right.
Nars Oil-Infused Lip Tint, €25.58
Do cracked, dehydrated lips keep you from wearing lipstick in winter? Meet Nars Lip Tints. They’re oil-infused so they’re very hydrating for the lips and come with a hint of colour. Wear them on their own for a sheer wash on the lips or put them over lipstick for extra moisture.
