Why ladies evening at the races is the ultimate summer night out

Who doesn’t adore an evening spent at the races? You get all dressed up, pose for Instagram, have a few drinks and shout the house down when your horse wins (or loses). It’s the perfect blend of all the good elements of a night out. Even better, then, if it were all in aid of a good cause.

We love the way ladies days at the races celebrate women. We get the opportunity to get glammed up and feel confident, all while eating, drinking and celebrating life with the other ladies we love the most. If the weather holds up too, well, it’s just a bonus.

Breast Cancer Ireland is a charity that’s close to every woman’s heart, with 1 in 9 of us developing the disease at some point in our lives. Breast Cancer Ireland has made tremendous progress in the last 5 years, with survival rates in Irish breast cancer patients rising from 75% to 83% and an increase of research publications from one in every two years, to five in one year. But there is always more work that can be done, and so fundraising continues around the country. One of our favourite ways to fundraise is going on a stellar night out with the women in our lives, and Breast Cancer Ireland have got the perfect option; Ladies Evening at Leopardstown races.

On May 25th, Breast Cancer Ireland, with support from Microsoft Ireland, will host their 2018 Ladies Evening, focusing on the celebration and empowerment of women. You can start your day with a champagne reception from Moët & Chandon at the Race Forward Event, before listening to some of Ireland’s top female industry leaders giving their tips for success in business, including key speaker Cathriona Hallahan, CEO of Microsoft Ireland and Anne Marie O’Brien, a former Champion Trainer and first lady of Irish Horse racing (and tucking into some seafood or sushi at the cooking stations). Or, if the classy vibe of the races is more your bag, get a ticket for the Moët & Chandon Afternoon Tea-for-Two, which includes a glass snipe of champagne on arrival, a seat at the Pavilion Mezzanine with views over the racetrack and sweet and savoury treats served on a classic three-tier tea stand. There are also competitions, performances from vintage trio the Bugle Babes and events going on throughout the day across the venue. And of course, the races themselves.

Tickets start at just €20 and it’s the perfect way to kick off your summer at the end of this month. Here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect on the evening:
