Dublin’s best toastie? Exciting new food hotspot, Toons Bridge Dairy Store, might just have it

Dublin’s best toastie? Exciting new food hotspot, Toons Bridge Dairy Store, might just have it

There isn’t a whole lot to talk about on the restaurant scene these days; still, there is considerable buzz about this simple yet brilliant new food store and deli on Dublin’s South Great George’s Street.

For starters, the grilled cheese toastie selection is spot-on – try the smokey scamorza and spicy ‘nduja (pronounced “en-DOO-ya” … you’re welcome) for a comforting toasted sandwich with plenty of attitude and a serious contender for the city’s best.

Meanwhile, there is also a commendable selection of enticing salumi, top-class olives and pickles, hand-made cheeses from West Cork, excellent olive oils from The Real Olive Company, organic Irish leaves, herbs, tomatoes, vegetables and all the bits and pieces you might need to truly enhance your regular weekly supermarket shop.

There are also some colourful Tunisian bowls available to buy that are beauts, perfect for when serving out the spoils of your shopping trip once you get back home and forget about two-metre rules and queues once again. Oh, and last but not least, there’s also the famously delicious Toons Bridge cannoli too, stuffed full with their fresh sweetened ricotta … which are amazing!

Toons Bridge Dairy Shop is adding new staples each week with organic wines coming soon. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm; and Sunday, 10am to 7pm

24 South Great George’s Street, Dublin 2.
