Five Christmas wreath workshops to book a place in (before it’s too late)

We know, we know – it does seem a bit early to bring up the topic of Christmas wreaths in mid-October.

And whilst we wouldn’t usually make a peep about the-festive-season-that-shall-not-be-named so early in the year, it has recently come to our attention that many Christmas wreath-making workshops are already getting booked up, so we wanted to warn you whilst there was still time to get your name on a list.

Having scoured the internet in search for the best festive floristry workshops taking place over the coming weeks, we’ve really done the hard work for you, and now we’ve listed out five of our favourites.

So if you were considering booking yourself into a Christmas wreath-making/ winter floral arrangement workshop over the festive season then scroll on and get booking, before it’s too late!

A foraged workshop in Ballynahinch

Taking place in the magical Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, and led by Mark Grehan of The Garden in Powerscourt, attendees of this festive floral workshop are in for a real treat.

Here Mark will lead guests on a walk around the beautiful, wild Connemara grounds of Ballynahinch Castle to forage yuletide foliage, before bringing guests back to a roaring fire in the Lettery Lodge for the workshop, which is accompanied by a stunning afternoon tea in the castle.

Cost: €85pp for a 4hr workshop (Overnight deal: stay one night for €175 pp, including the workshop and breakfast)

The Crate Workshop at The Jar

Join the incredibly talented team from The Crate at The Jar on Wexford Street for a really lovely evening of craft and creativity in the heart of Dublin’s city centre.

Here you’ll learn the craft of wreath making using seasonal greenery and a selection of fresh and dried flowers. All materials will be provided, including a glass of bubbles and festive treats on arrival, which is always a plus!

Cost: €75 for a 2hr workshop

Kay’s Christmas Workshop

Janette and Dee are the two vivacious sisters who lead the widely-acclaimed Kay’s Flower School over in Rialto. They are currently offering one-day and evening courses that cater to those who are interested in taking up a new hobby, or who simply want to learn to make a Christmas wreath.

The sisters provide a great introduction for anyone who would like to have fun with flowers whilst decorating their home for Christmas, and they promise to show you how easy it can be to create seasonal floral arrangements (including door wreaths, swags and table centrepieces) that are sure to impress.

Cost: €75 for a 2hr evening Christmas workshop

Lismore Castle Gardens Workshop

Join the Lismore Castle Gardens team for a hands-on festive workshop; constructing and decorating your own Christmas wreaths using foliage that you collect from the beautiful surroundings of the Lismore Castle Gardens.

All materials will be provided during both the morning and afternoon sessions, and attendees will also be treated to mulled wine and seasonal treats throughout.

Cost: €30 for a 2.5hr workshop

Festive Workshop at Druids Glen

The five-star Druids Glen Hotel has teamed up with local Wicklow florist, Floral Art, to host a special Christmas wreath-making workshop and luxury afternoon tea event on Saturday 24th November.

Throughout the day the Floral Art team will take guests through the workshop with all materials provided, whilst the staff at Druids Glen look after the afternoon tea side of things. The spread promises to be really special, and will include dainty turkey & cranberry sandwiches, mince pies, mini shortbreads and a glass of bubbly, too!

Cost: €139 per person for a 3.5hr afternoon workshop. Contact 01 287 0809 or [email protected] to book.
