Make a statement in double denim à la Kanye West and Julia Fox

Double denim is back thanks to Kanye West (or Ye as he goes by these days) and his new beau Julia Fox. 

A master of carefully crafted PR stunts, the couple made their red carpet debut at Paris Fashion Week… and it’s no coincidence that Yeezy opted for a Canadian tuxedo for the event. We all remember how iconic that Britney/JT look was, right? 21 years later and it’s still the resounding image of early noughties fashion. 

Hoping to make a similar impact with their coordinated ‘fits, Ye opted for an oversized Balenciaga look while Fox donned a cropped Schiaparelli jacket and low rise jeans – hers complete with gold buttons and a conical bra detail reminiscent of the one first made famous by Madonna… who Julia is apparently best pals with? 

As suspected, the pairing had quite the effect. Ye may not be able to claim the design as his own, but he certainly knows how to create a ruckus, especially when it comes to his sartorial choices. In fact, The Sydney Herald was so impressed by the message it sent that journalist Damien Woolnough has since claimed that “double denim is Kanye West’s revenge dress”. 

In the midst of a very public divorce from Kim Kardashian, Ye has made it clear that he’s not here to play… though yes, it’s probably better to say it with clothes than targeted song lyrics claiming “God saved me from that crash just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s a**.”
