How to wear loafers, autumn’s it shoe

You've packed the ugly dad sandals away for another year and now, it's the loafer's time to shine. A slightly chunkier version of a ballet flat, loafers are as timeless as leather jackets and blue jeans. This season, you’ll wear them with black slacks and dresses and almost too-short mini skirts – here are three outfit ideas to get you started.

Poplin shirt and shorts

Ok, it may not be the most Irish weather appropriate but a poplin shirt and boxer shorts looks hella good with a pair of loafers – dress for the weather you want, not the weather you have.

Oversized knit and mini skirt

Not ready to say goodbye to legs out weather just yet? Good thing you don’t have to. Just add a pair of sheer tights under some frilly socks, et voilà you have a very on-trend autumn ‘fit. An oversized knit and a mini skirt shouldn’t work, but it does.

All black everything

Black on black on black will never not be chic… but if that’s a little intimidating, a statement coat can bring just the right amount of colour.
