The best long-sleeved swimsuits to see you through winter at the 40 Foot

Want to continue your sea-swimming habit into the winter months? Long-sleeved swimsuits that cover up may be the way to go

Sea swimming has been the saving grace for thousands of us during the pandemic. Getting outdoors and plunging into the freezing depths of Irish waters sounds a little harsh, but its unique way of waking us up and reviving us for another day of ‘new normal’ can’t be underestimated.

We want to keep up our healthy habits as the weather continues to worsen but not ready for the full commitment to a winter wetsuit? Why not try a long-sleeved swimsuit. They give you plenty of flexibility to continue swimming and will keep you a little warmer than their itsy bitsy counterparts. However, if you are going for more than a quick dip, it is advisable to invest in a good wetsuit for this time of year. The water temperature can vary day-to-day and Swim Ireland has issued an appeal to sea swimmers to be more cautious in winter waters.

If you’re in the market for a new swimsuit, here are some of our favourites that we’ve spotted online.

Surfe Sexie Rashie in Snow Leopard, now €126.95 from Une Piece

Wade the Waters Long Sleeve One Piece, €128 from Lululemon

Long Sleeve One-Piece Swimsuit, €89.99 from ROXY

Women’s long-sleeved surf short with front zip, €35 from Decathlon

O’Neill women’s full zip long-sleeved surf suit, €57.97 from Wetsuit Outlet
