The idea that Cate Blanchett is anything less than a red carpet pro is blasphemy. She takes risks, wears true runway fashion with ease, and isn’t against trying out a pair of brightly coloured aviators. See Blanchett’s most recent best – from press engagements for Carol and Truth and Beyond for full validation of these facts.

With the Oscars mere weeks away, we’re taking a look at all the leading actresses’ best red carpet moments as we anticipate what they’ll opt for on the big night, and Carol nominee is next on our radar.

Blanchett is a designer’s dream, and she frequently ends up on best-dressed lists, helped enormously by the fact that she is a friend of Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Armani, Gucci, Prada, D&G and Givenchy who are more than happy to style her for events. She’s as daring as she is on trend and we have to give her props for choosing designs with bold silhouettes, abstract prints and shiny finishes. While we didn’t love her fringed, dusted-pink Golden Globes gown, there’s plenty we did love as you’ll see from our gallery above.
