The Topshop Unique SS16 collection was without a doubt one of the most anticipated collections of London Fashion Week so far. As creative director Kate Phelan told FT.com after the show: “Everyone has had a Topshop experience in their life. It’s where you go. It’s your playground.” The idea of the ‘Topshop experience’ she’s referring to is on point; Topshop are known for their on-trend, yet completely wearable collections and they haven’t strayed from that for SS16. “Of the collection – which includes a divine mix of trends that are set to be big next season: leather, fluff, meadow prints and polka dots – Phelan added that there was “no real formula” as to how the pieces were meant to be worn together, but rather that the collection was about making each look “your own” based on the pieces featured. “It’s that Topshop thing,” she added. “Finding your style within the collection.”
Topshop Unique has grown up for the season ahead. This collection is more polished and put together than ever before – think belted tuxedo jackets over sheer, fluid dresses and pointy slingback heels with every single look. Throw in the playful pairings of scarlet fluff and leopard print, plus the knitted golfer vests over chiffon midi dresses and you’ve got yourself a flawless ensemble of pieces.
We’ll take the entire collection.
