The edit: what’s on fashion director Marie Kelly’s radar this week

The edit: what’s on fashion director Marie Kelly’s radar this week

Every Thursday, our fashion director, Marie Kelly, will bring you an exclusive edit of what caught her style-savvy eye that week, from industry insider news to incredible buys and everything in-between.

New Label Alert

Donnybrook boutique Electra is now the only European stockist of Maison Flâneur (above) outside its home country of Italy. For women who love directional design that is still effortlessly wearable, this is the label they need to know about. Besides this exquisite two piece, I’m in love with the incredible plum strapless tunic, below. What a statement piece!

The Dress to Beat

I’ve fallen hard for this cool asymmetric dress from Paper London. It has a low V-neck back so is a sexy but modern option for evening when worn as is. Paired with a polo neck, it’s ideal for smart daywear. I like how the tie wraps on each shoulder create a unique silhouette, while the check pattern ticks this season’s heritage trend box. This is clever design and I love it.

Claire Foy Joy

When you’re picking up your copy of IMAGE Magazine this month, check out the cover of British Vogue, featuring The Crown actress Claire Foy. This is one of the most unexpected and exciting magazine covers I’ve seen for some time. Foy, who is the epitome of sophisticated glamour on the red carpet, has completely reinvented herself for this cover. Her cropped hair, pared-back make-up and multiple piercings look so modern and fresh. It’s the kind of look you’d expect of Katie Perry, not Claire Foy, and that’s what makes it such a success. I can’t wait to get my hands on this issue and see more of Claire’s new look inside.

H&M Collaboration a Huge Hit

According to my colleagues here at IMAGE, the H&M collaboration with William Morris has almost sold out of the College Green store after launching less than a week ago. I frustratingly missed the ball on this one – ironic given that I was reporting on it before it dropped! They kindly brought their beautiful wares into the office, leaving me feeling even worse for having missed out on what are pretty exquisite pieces. Luckily, though, there’s still some gems available online. I think there’s something beautifully ethereal about the print dress below, yet the modest neckline and long sleeves give it an almost puritanical feel that contrasts so cleverly with the floaty, feminine fabric. At €39.99, it’s a collectable item we can all afford.

Fantastic Irish Fashion Event

From October 16, Dundrum Town Centre is hosting 30 of the top and best emerging Irish designers in its Pembroke District (beside Harvey Nichols). Jewellers, womenswear and cashmere designers as well as accessories brands will be showing their beautiful wares. I’ll be popping in to pick up a piece of contemporary jewellery from Capulet & Montague (below), and to have a look at Laura Chamber’s latest collection of beautiful cashmere. The collaboration runs till January, so it’s an ideal place to pick up unique Christmas gifts.
