It was Charlotte who dubbed Carrie Bradshaw’s nude dress (the one she wore on her first date with Mr Big) as “the naked dress”. Blush tones can be notoriously tricky to pull off, but several?A-listers at this year’s Tony Awards looked chic enough to suggest that blush is the new black.
It takes a confident woman to walk the red carpet in subdued shades of peaches and cream. At just 22, Saoirse Ronan looked like a woman who had come of age in a floor-length Stella McCartney blush cut-out gown. Paired with a fresh face enhanced by peachy shades on her lips and cheeks and unfussy hair, she was the epitome of effortless chic.
Actress Bebe Neuwirth looked exquisite in a strapless?nude?gown with lace overlay?and ruched detailing. A dress like this could easily veer into bridal territory, but the streamlined cut of the dress and?a black clutch bag kept the look completely modern.
Model Jourdan Dunn opted for a deeper shade of blush and a more elaborate silhouette in this Zac Posen gown. The dramatic shape is balanced by the simplicity of the piece and lack of embellishment.
Actress Meg Ryan went for a Grecian-style, empire-line dress with jewel?plaited top and?tulle skirt. Unfortunately, the sheer sleeves looked more like wrinkly skin than an elegant cover-up.
Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o opted for a frill-front knee-length dress for the Tony Awards after party. With minimal accessories, it was the perfect look for the relaxed surroundings of the after show event; flirty and fun.
