8 Crop Tops We Want Now

8 Crop Tops We Want Now

Last night, Amal Clooney wore a furry crop top to dinner (stop the press), so naturally, given how we reacted to that post-wedding day pantsuit, we’ve gone crop top nuts today. We’re just going to overlook those 70s bellbottoms as the pattern reminds us somewhat of our Aunt Mildred’s curtains. Though we thought this midriff-baring sartorial choice would be a thing of the past in 2015, it seems crop tops are sticking around for a while yet. They’re still rather necessary, however. You might not want to shop your stomach but if you’ve fallen head over heels in love with a high waisted skirt, pair of jeans or culottes, you’re going to need to marry them with something that accentuates your waistline, rather than covers everything up. It doesn’t mean that too much skin has to be on show.

Below, we round up some of the prettier offerings available in your favourite high street stores/online destinations right now. Whether you’re stocking up for festival season, or you want something a little bit different for that summer wedding, we’ve got you covered.

If it’s an office appropriate cropped blouse you’re after, this printed option with short sleeves from Missguided is all kinds of cute. €25.20

These Zara embroidered, laser-cut top will see you from festival to wedding to walk by the sea. €29.95

This cropped kimono with an open back is ideal for anyone who requires something that meets their waistline while at the same time covering the upper arms. €38.25, Asos.com

For high waisted ensembles that go well above the belly button, you might decide to brave a bralet, this one from River Island is perfect for the beach right through to the summer party. €30, Riverisland.com

The detail on this Jarlo lace white crop top deserves closer inspection; it’s so delicate. Perfect for those formal events when you just don’t fancy the idea of a dress. €75.14, Asos.com

We love this simple navy bralet for a night on the tiles paired with a high waisted skirt as shown above. If you’re going to opt for something low cut (and high cut at the same time), best pair it with a longer A-line skirt. Best not to give it all away at once, right? €13.99 on sale at Missguided.co.uk.

Or, if you’re feeling totally casual, and you want something bold and sassy to wear with high waisted denim shorts, this leopard print number from H&M will only set you back €7.99.
