5 Very Cool Granny Knits To Buy Now

If I was to distil the vibe for AW17 knitwear down to one key reference, I’d say take inspiration from your granny’s favourite?tea cosy. Crochet is cool, bobbles are the business and patchwork is the pattern of choice. Here are five knits to give you inspiration.

Old-fashioned, old-lady crochet meets grungy XL sweater here. I love the contrast, and the vibrancy of the squares against the black base. Who knew crochet could look so street?

Oversized crochet sweater, €39.99 at Zara

Despite the wayward threads, this is refined patchwork by Stella McCartney. I like the mix of colours and the slightly marbled style wool.

Nothing says granny chic like some embroidered florals. I’d pair this with a pleated skirt and some quirky, high-fashion footwear to balance any tweeness.

Embroidered jumper, €136.50 (reduced from €195) at Maje

This gorgeous cashmere wool-blend cardigan has a beautifully homespun feel to it. The crochet applique flowers on the sleeves add a really cool geek chic vibe.

Stitched fringed cardigan, Michael Klein, €996 at farfetch.com

The pattern on this jumper has an almost carpet-like appearance which I think is wonderfully retro. I’d wear it oversized so the pattern becomes more of a feature.

Textured cotton sweater, €19.95 (reduced from €49.95) at Mango
