Glossy nails are set to dominate the trends in 2018, that’s according to our go-to nail expert Pamela Laird.

“Brights are back with a bang when it comes to polish this year,” according to nail artist Pamela Laird. “Every shade, bright or dark, is going to have a super high shine finish. Red nails are going to hang around. Don’t forget to use a base coat underneath to protect the nail. Shimmer is the new take on glitter for nails— think an iridescent glow. Sally Hansen Luna Pearl is the opalescent shade.”

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Luna-Pearl,’ 8.99

Nails Inc. Long Wear ‘Cambridge Grove,’ 12.00

OPI ‘Upfront and Personal,’  15.00

And as for that classic red that Pamela mentioned, try ‘Her Majesty’s Red’ by butter, 14.40

But the key to this shiny new trend is a solid base coat underneath, and a smooth top coat to finish off the look. Her favourites?

Base Coat: Essie all-in-one base coat, 10.99

Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat, 8.99

There’s thousands of shades of regular polish out there to try, but if you’re a gel nails gal then you’re not getting left behind with this trend. Pamela recommends Gelish Royal Temptations Collection in ‘All My Heart Desires,’ available in salon’s nationwide, 19.95
