On the search for a new house? This Victorian Country house on the shores of Lough Derg in Tipperary may just be the one

Located 15 kilometres from the towns of Ballina and Killaloe, Garrykennedy House is a tranquil retreat on the shores of Lough Derg.

With its ancient castle and harbour, Garrykennedy Village (just a short stroll from the house) is a renowned holiday and recreational destination. The village is also home to Larkins Bar which is known for its food, music, and atmosphere.

The stunning Garrykennedy House was built in 1864 in the style of a Victorian country lodge on approximately 50 acres of private parkland. The land also includes old stone walls, a Georgian coach house, and a round tower all surrounded by spectacular views of Lough Derg.

This view is the most immediate and prominent feature of the property because of the rise of land the house was built on.

Accommodation

The interior of the house has stayed true to its Victorian roots with an entrance hall complete with a sparkling chandelier.

The hallway leads to a pair of interconnecting pair of receptions rooms have bay windows, high ceilings, open fires, and fabulous views.

An open and light-filled kitchen is perfect for summer days, while an open fire is on hand for when the temperatures drop.

Upstairs there are five bedrooms each complete with panoramic views of the surrounded land.

A spacious bathroom with classic gold furnishings is also located on the top floor.

The house also contains a basement. This lower level possesses a game and fitness suite that includes a sauna and jacuzzi.

Outside there is a separate fully restored three-bedroom coach house complete with its own courtyard. The current owners have used the house as an Air BnB for extra income.

A private walled garden outside of the main house includes a sheltered outdoor heated swimming pool for all year round use.

There is also a stable yard with three stables and various other outbuildings, a round tower, and a tennis court. Not only this, various walking and riding routes surround are located around the property.

If you are to make Garrykennedy House your permanent abode, it will cost you €1.9 million. However, we think the stunning views, the beautiful house and the air of tranquility are worth the price tag.
