Don’t let the adorably dinky exterior of this house for sale in Dalkey deceive you – inside it’s got plenty of space and some spectacular views.

Along the quiet Rockfort Avenue, just two streets in from the sea is this beautiful two-storey home in Dalkey.

On the market for a cool €2 million, the Victorian house, named Carrig Baun, might look small from the front but inside is 195 square metres that includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a number of stately rooms that have views of the sea, as well as a large private back garden.

Off the main hallway are the sitting room, drawing room, dining room and kitchen, all with plenty of original features including ornate mouldings, fireplaces and two beautiful bay windows to the front.

At the rear, the dining room and kitchen open onto a wide terrace overlooking Dublin Bay. It runs the entire width of the house and provides a sheltered spot to read and relax.

This house is upside down, with the main living areas on the entrance level to take advantage of the views, while one floor below at garden level are the bedrooms.

The master bedroom has French bay doors onto the garden and its own ensuite. Three other spacious bedrooms share a large family bathroom, while a small WC is located at the foot of the stairs for guests.

Outside, the large and spacious garden measures a whopping 29 metres in length and is surprisingly private for its location, not overlooked by any neighbours.

Out front, wrought iron gates mark the property and there’s space for off-street parking on the gravelled drive.

The house has clearly been well-loved by its current owners, the large windows and split level height give all the rooms oodles of light while maintaining a sense of seclusion.
