The Reluctant Traveller, Apple TV+

This landed on Apple TV last week but there was so much good stuff to include, that it got pushed to this week… sorry not sorry. Hosted by Emmy Award winner Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek, amongst other things), this eight-episode series follows him as he visits some of the world’s most beautiful and intriguing destinations – from Costa Rica to Finland, Italy, Japan, the Maldives, Portugal, South Africa and a few places across the US too.

Private Parts with Jamie Laing, wherever you get your podcasts

*Trigger warning: This episode contains themes of sexual violence, rape and depression

In this particular episode, Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing is joined by comedian Grace Campbell to chat about everything from her new sex party documentary, to the pitfalls of modern dating and why the UK needs urgent change in their judicial system.

Wednesday, March 01

The Dry, RTÉ One

Shiv Sheridan returns home to Dublin after years of partying in London, sober and full of good intentions. However, being back with her family makes staying on ‘the dry’ much harder than she expected. As Shiv tries to navigate this new phase of her life, so must her family… and they all have issues they don’t want to face. Comedy drama written by Nancy Harris starring Roisin Gallaher, Ciarán Hinds, Pom Boyd, Siobhán Cullen, Adam Richardsan and Moe Dunford.

Strange Sally Diamond, by Liz Nugent

Sally Diamond simply can’t understand why what she did was so strange… she was only doing what her father told her to do, to put him out with the rubbish when he died! However, that’s not how everyone else seems to see it and now, Sally finds herself the centre of attention – not only from the media-hungry press and police detectives, but also a sinister voice from a past she can’t remember. As she begins to discover the horrors of her childhood, Sally steps into the world for the first time, making new friends and big decisions, and learning that people don’t always mean what they say.

Daisy Jones & The Six, Prime Video

New on Amazon Prime Video as of just today, Daisy Jones & The Six is the highly-anticipated screen adaption of the popular novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid (who also penned The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo). Centred on the whirlwind rise to fame of 70s band The Six and their beautiful lead singer, Daisy Jones, the story is every bit as sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll as you might expect. In fact, in a blog post she wrote for Hello Sunshine, Jenkins Reid revealed that she actually took inspiration from the real relationship between Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham for the story. Safe to say, the music is great too.

The Last of Us Podcast by HBO, wherever you get your podcasts

If, like me, you’re hooked on HBO’s The Last of Us, then this podcast is a must-listen. The official companion podcast for the series, host Troy Baker (who played Joel in the video game the show is based on) is joined by showrunners Craig MAzin and Neil Druckmann to dissect the show, episode by episode. Not only do they deep dive into some of the most poignant moments, but they also have plenty of behind-the-scenes info to share too.
