Why This Indian Ad Is Going Viral

While we passed a referendum to our constitution last month to equalise same-sex marriage, in India even being homosexual is illegal. Which is why this ad featuring a lesbian Indian couple is incredibly powerful, and brave.

The clothing brand Anouk is responsible for the ad, which was devised by Ogilvy & Mather Bangalore, reports adweek.com. In the short ad, a couple are lounging around their apartment, getting ready to leave the house and talking about suitable clothes. As the short video progresses, it becomes clear that they are preparing to meet one girl’s parents, and to come out to them as a couple. According to media reports from the country, this is the first ad to portray a same-sex couple.

The tagline of the campaign is ?Bold is Beautiful?, and it has already garnered nearly 1.8 million views.
