Which Musician Tops Wedding Playlists?

Which artist is finding himself the top choice for the first dance at weddings?

According to Spotify, Ed Sheeran is the top choice for couples with an analysis of 400,000 wedding playlists finding that the English singer-songwriter was the most popular first track. With a reputation for treacly guitar, no one is? surprised that the ballad Thinking Out Loud has triumphed in the romantic data dredge. Afer all, the video is basically one very dramatic first dance.

In second place is Etta James classic At Last, with Elvis Presley’s crooning Can’t Help Falling in Love in third place. Fair play to Ed for beating Etta and Elvis, and becoming this generation’s David Gray. Other artists on the list include Ed again with his song Tenerife Sea and Adele’s Make You Feel My Love.

Spotify also found out which songs dominate the reception’s dancefloor after everyone’s nibbled on beef or salmon. All of Me by John Legend and Bruno Mar’s Marry Me are the unsurprising suspects in top place, with The Lumineers Ho Hey and Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat bringing more emotion.

Do these playlists reflect Irish wedding playlists? Or would the rogue Maniac 2000 pop up to remind that romance might actually be dead by 3am?
