What To Do Today: Your IMAGE Guide To The Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend? Get personal with Desmond & Dempsey, support Jazz, and get ready for #FemFest. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Get Personal Here

Is there anything better than *borrowing* your partner’s oversized pyjamas after a long week? Co-founder of pyjama brand Desmond & Dempsey, Molly  Goddard, doesn’t think so.  Together with her other half and business partner Joel Desmond, they create beautiful and luxurious hand-painted men’s and women’s pyjamas to cater for Sunday adventures or later afternoons in bed. Today, co-Founder Molly Goddard will be at Brown Thomas Grafton Street to meet customers and embroider their initials on to the sleeve or breast pocket of their Desmond & Dempsey pyjamas. The service takes approx five minutes and is a really unique and personal gift for someone special this Christmas. Find Desmond & Dempsey in The Lingerie Room, Level 3, Brown Thomas Dublin, from 10 am to 5 pm.

Take Part In #FemFest Here

You’re invited to join the National Women’s Council of Ireland for #FemFest: a major conference for young women aged 16-25 discussing leadership, equality and planning for our feminist future. Taking place in Liberty Hall next Saturday, November 25th, #FemFest will be a fun and engaging space for young women and about young women. It will combine passionate and dynamic speakers including Sinead McSweeney, MD of Twitter in Ireland, Dil Wickremasinghe, Social Justice and Mental Health Podcaster, Louise McSharry, presenter at RTÉ 2fm, Sinead Aherne, Captain of the Dublin Ladies Football Team, Anna Cosgrave, Repeal Project and Vanessa Lacey, of the Transgender Equality Network Ireland. This is a free event and open to young women aged 16 – 25. For more info click here.

Support Female Jazz Here

BAN BAM is a new one-day festival from Improvised Music Company with a focus on female artists in jazz and improvised music, packed full of new ideas, new sounds and new music. Taking place next Saturday, November 25th, at The Complex in Dublin 7, the festival heralds a longer-term initiative by IMC to highlight female musicians playing jazz, improvised and experimental music, while supporting and empowering the wider scene and next generation through a variety of activities in 2018 and beyond. Kicking off with some late afternoon panels and discussions from 4 pm, BAN BAM looks at the issues surrounding the gender imbalance within the Irish jazz scene, before jazzing down with headline acts until late. For tickets and more information click here.

Get Urban With Art Here

A Wiley bazaar of art, fashion, original sketches and commissions. Fancy buying an original? There will be a gaggle of artists – local and international – who will be knocking around throughout the day too. The Bernard Shaw today from 10 am to 5 pm. Click here for more info.

Listen To The Female Voice Here

#DFFF2017 takes place Thursday 16th – Saturday 18th November 2017 in The New Theatre: Dublin. Now in its 4th year, the Dublin Feminist Film Festival aims to counteract the miss-representation and under-representation of women behind and in front of the camera, through a three-day event with feature film screenings, short films, and events. The festival will also hold its annual “best short film prize”(short film submissions are now closed). All the feature films screened at the DFFF are directed by women, with this years theme being “FeministFutures”. Click here for more inspiration and ticket info.
