Cards & ideas to cheer up a friend who has been forced to postpone their wedding

Let your friend know you’re thinking about them during Covid-19 with these wedding postponement cards and ideas.

Rescheduling a wedding a lot of work. You need to get in touch with your venue and suppliers to find a date that might work for all of them, bearing in mind that everyone who was planning a wedding for summer 2020 is doing the exact same thing so date the florist and the band were free when you spoke, might suddenly book up.

Chances are they had to forgo some of their deposits to settle on a date, and then they need to let all the guests know, ask them to change their accommodation plans and look at the invitations again.

And then, suddenly their original wedding date is upon them, and of course the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. It is totally understandable that they would be a bit emotional about it, while probably even feeling guilty about being upset about something so trivial in the grand scheme of things.

There are lots of ways to let them know you are thinking of them and how much you’re looking forward to celebrating their marriage when the day actually comes.

Cards

The simplest way to let your friend know that you’re thinking of them is by card. And plenty of card places have jumped on the bandwagon, with some gas cards to send them.

Wedding quarantine card, €4.37, Saucy Avocado on Etsy

Maybe Not Today card, around €3.90, Archive 12

Would Be Wedding Day card, €2.93, Lily Design and Print on Etsy

A Date Night In Hamper

Just because their wedding day hasn’t happened as they had planned, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t celebrate it. Why not send them a hamper or a luxury meal delivery.

There are plenty of restaurants around the country now doing takeouts, call a local spot nearby and surprise them with a gourmet meal.

Chocolate Subscription

Give them a new to countdown to their new wedding date with a monthly subscription to Irish chocolatiers Bean & Goose. The Enniscorthy-based atelier run a monthly tasting club that they deliver by post.

You can just buy them one month as a way of marking the month of their would-be wedding date for €16, or for three, six or twelve months.

Love Isn’t Cancelled Ceremony Box

The thoughtful team and Belfast bridal shop Archive 12 have put together a little gift box to send to would-be brides and groom show have been forced to postpone their wedding.

With a bottle of Shortcross Gin, a Clean Slate candle, a smudge stick to cleanse the air and a rose crystal to promote good vibes. The box costs about €60.
