WATCH: The trailer for the 2020 Late Late Toy Show is here

WATCH: The trailer for the 2020 Late Late Toy Show is here

This year, everything has changed (temporarily we hope). Christmas celebrations will be different but the staple that is the Late Late Toy Show will go on

And thank goodness for it. It’s a programme made with the intent of celebrating the things we hold most dear. From host Ryan Tubridy’s stellar Christmas jumpers and genuine rapport with the kids (who are ridiculously talented and the rightful stars of the show).

This year, what we will miss is the gleeful cheers when everyone in the audience gets something nice to take home, as, thanks to Covid restrictions, there will be no in-studio audience, but no doubt they still have some tricks up their sleeves…

With less than two weeks to go until this year’s extravaganza hits our screens, a small trailer has been released and this year, it is especially poignant.

It tells the story of a young girl called Eva who, like everyone, is stuck at home. Eva is missing her friends, friends she usually gets into her PJs with to watch the show. Her brother Rob, goes above and beyond on the family farm to ensure Eva and her friends can be together to experience the magic of The Late Late Toy Show, just like every other year.

The theme, as ever, will remain under lock and key until closer to the main event.

“It has been a very strange year, and that’s why this Christmas is so important,” our host continues. “We’re going to be singing, we’re going to be dancing, we’re going to be playing with toys, and we’re going to be having lots and lots and lots and lots of fun. We need you to gather together and join us, and let’s make Christmas, Christmas!”

Watch the sneak peek below:

The Late Late Toy Show airs on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Friday, November 27th at 9.35pm
