Venus is in retrograde right now: Here’s what it means for your star sign

Venus is in retrograde right now: Here’s what it means for your star sign

How are you feeling these past 10 days? Like everything is going against you? Irritable? As if you’re pushing your way through a wave that threatens to plunge you into icy water? Okay, so perhaps the latter is a slight exaggeration, but if you’re feeling decidedly off, it’s not just because of the changing weather; we can blame the stars.

Starting from October 5th and lasting until around November 16th, we’re now in what’s known as Venus Retrograde (similar to Mercury‘s) but it takes aim at different life angles this time. This retrograde is potent enough (as they generally all are) in that you’ll almost certainly feel things start to shift at certain points throughout the next month – it’s not just your imagination. And whether you’re a firm believer when it comes to horoscopes or a hesitant sceptic, they are an undoubtedly mysterious entity, and it would be unwise to leave yours ignored altogether.

What exactly is Venus Retrograde?

Venus is the planet of love, beauty, pleasure, and money. All great things, but because it goes retrograde the least out of every planet out there, which means that when it does happen, the change is noticeable, and generally leads to a feeling of chaos. Its retrograde period usually happens every year and a half. We have to remember that Venus is the governess of all that is beautiful. It’s alluring; magnetic and receptive. It can bring strong financial favour and material gain. And because Venus rules love, this means your relationships are going to be affected in a pretty big way if it’s in retrograde, i.e spinning backwards.

It’s a time to contemplate; not for action. Avoid anything rash, from sudden breakups, to new romance, extreme changes to your appearance, or any major unnecessary spending

How will it affect me?

In Love: The first thing that any astrologer will tell you is that until the retrograde has ended, it would be wise to any astrologer will tell you to avoid making any drastic changes to your look or personal aesthetic. That means anything from tattoos to haircuts; avoid those snap decisions that you can make but absolutely not take back. It’s a time when you can channel “passions various ways,” according to Astrology.com, but this can mean relationships could feel a strain. Those who are already in committed relationships may find themselves in a romantic stand-off, though Venus retrogrades can be the perfect opportunity to hash out deep-seated romantic misgivings so that we view them with newfound clarity later on. Likewise, any new relationship started in this period can feel troublesome and shadowed, so you may be tempted to avoid any ghoulish Halloween hookups – they may not work out in your favour.

In your job: Tensions could fly as the retrograde takes hold. In terms of working relationships, though, there’s likely going to be some shaky stuff happening, either between colleagues or because things aren’t being said in a transparent manner. Astrostyle also points out that Venus retrograde could also lead to more rude behaviour, and you might find yourself feeling more impatient in general. Avoid taking on that new project until you’re absolutely clear on what’s expected of you in terms of achievable goals and sit back and look at any inner team tensions with perspective before making a judgment. In other words; asking for that promotion can wait until November.

In terms of your finances: With planet Venus’ connection to aesthetics, beauty and luxuries, the retrograde generally means we’ll review and take stock of what we have around us. It can be regarded as a fruitful period for revisiting our creative passions, but the retrograde also makes this a time you should absolutely forgo charging ahead with artistic projects. Likewise, luxurious and impulsive purchases of any kind are likely to feel ill-advised post-Venus retrograde and fill us with buyer’s remorse. Design projects, shopping sprees, and ‘big ticket’ purchases like watches and jewellery would be better left for later in the year. Christmas is around the corner, so it seems the opportune time to hold out until the man in red is due to make an appearance.
