Naya Rivera went missing on Wednesday
The search for Glee star Naya Rivera continues since her disappearance on Wednesday during a boating trip on Lake Piru in California with her four-year-old son.
Emergency teams have now classed the rescue as a "search and recovery operation" and the focus of their search efforts is in the water.
A Ventura County Sheriff spokesman said 100 personnel are actively searching with helicopters, boats, divers and more and confirmed that a video from the dock shows Naya Rivera and her son were the only two people on the boat. Interviews with her son show there is no evidence she made it to shore.
"We're putting our best foot forward to try and locate her," he said. "We’re using all the assets that are available to us, we’re using technology like Sonar.”
The visibility in the lake is terrible he said, with debris and trees flowing beneath the surface. Swimming is permitting in the lake and there is no strong undercurrents he said, but sometimes the water can be very cold.
An emergency call was made raising the alarm when Naya Rivera's son was seen floating in the boat by himself and suspicions were raised when the rented boat was not returned on time. Her son was found wearing a life jacket, and there was another life jacket found on board. Rivera's purse, with her ID, was also found on board.
The 33-year-old's boat was found drifting in the northern part of the lake, with her sleeping son on board. She was nowhere to be seen.
