The Crown Season 4: even the trailer is giving us goosebumps

Season Four of The Crown is due to be released on Netflix on November 15th and if the trailer is anything to go by, it is going to be quite something.

The trailer for season four of The Crown centres around the wedding of princess Diana (Emma Corrin) and Charles, prince of Wales (Josh O’Connor).  Princess Diana and prince Charles take center stage, with the first footage of Gillian Anderson in the role of Margaret Thatcher also appearing.

A voiceover reads, “Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made — a prince and princess on their wedding day. But fairy tales usually end at this point, with the simple phrase, ‘They lived happily ever after,’”

It goes on, “As husband and wife live out their vows, loving and cherishing one another — sharing life’s splendors and miseries, achievements and setbacks — they will be transformed in the process. Our faith sees the wedding day not as the place of arrival, but the place where the adventure really begins.”

The voice you can hear throughout this piece is the Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, from the speech he gave during Charles and Diana’s wedding. (Apologies if that iss a spoiler.)

Netflix also shared a first glimpse of Princess Diana’s wedding dress. Emmy award-winning costume designer Amy Roberts wanted to capture the same spirit and style of David & Elizabeth Emanuel’s original design, without creating a replica for Emma Corrin.

The ominous trailer previews a season which will chronicle Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer, and Margaret Thatcher as the first female prime minister of the UK.

Seasons three and four were filmed back-to-back, so here is hoping fans will not have to wait long for the next installment.
