Supermarket opening times for over-60s and the vulnerable

The elderly and vulnerable have found it difficult to shop for basic goods due to a recent run of coronavirus panic-buying emptying shelves of basic goods.

These groups are also often afraid to visit thronged stores, as they are most susceptible to Covid-19.

Below are opening times of national supermarkets, dedicated to helping protect more vulnerable shoppers.  

ICELAND
08.00 – 09.00 Daily from March 18th
Iceland Ireland announced that they will be opening up all 27 of their stores between the hours of 8.00-9.00am to their customers who are over 65 from Wednesday 18th March onwards.

LIDL
09.00 – 11.00 Daily from March 17th
There will be prioritised queuing and additional assistance in-store for elderly Lidl customers from 9am to 11am every day.Lidl has asked all customers to respect the dedicated shopping hours each morning.

TESCO
Before 09.00 Mon, Wed, Fri from March 18th
Tesco Ireland have promised “dedicated access” to over 65s on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings before 9am. Tesco stores open at 7am or 8am, depending on location
