Sun’s out and school’s out: here’s where you need to be this weekend

It’s the long weekend and miraculously, the weather is glorious; is there honestly anything better? If you’re not sunning yourself with drinks along the canal, or eating your weight in Eater chocolate (or both), then give these lovely long weekend activities a go. Happy bank holiday from IMAGE!

Friday: Never say die at The Goonies at the Lighthouse

What would a long weekend guide be without a Lighthouse cinema fix? This week, it’s the 80s classic The Goonies, which, much like the boys’ catchphrase, will never die as an amazing watch. Treasure hunts, wisecrack one-liners and all the 80s nostalgia you could ever want. Get your tickets here.

All weekend: Get the family together at Easter at Dublinia

If family fun is on the agenda for this weekend (schools are off, after all) head to Dublinia, which can always be relied upon for brilliant activities. From weapons demonstrations to basket weaving, it’s a brilliant way to get the kids involved in something fun this weekend (and sneakily have them learn something outside of school hours).

Sunday onwards: Get glammed at the Easter Festival at Fairyhouse

The Easter Festival at Fairyhouse in Co Meath is the place to be over the Easter Weekend and home to the stalwart at the heart of the Irish racing calendar – the Boylesports Irish Grand National. The racecourse is transformed into Ireland’s largest playground, with something for everyone, over the weekend. Whether it’s fashion you’re into (Monday is Lady’s Day) or family (Tuesday is the dedicated day for kids fun) one thing’s for sure – you’ll never be stuck for things to do. Tickets at fairyhouse.ie and remember that under-16’s get free entry.
