Forget 'get beach body ready' and get body positive: BoPo accounts worth following

Now that summer is here, we're bracing ourselves for the annual summer “GET BEACH BODY READY” marketing onslaught.

This is the time of year in which we're aggressively reminded that our bodies are a “work in progress”, undeserving of fresh air and sunlight, and constantly open to ridicule.

Well, not anymore. A beach body is whatever body graces a beach, that’s all there is to it. And if this is something you’re having difficulty coming to grips with (because unfortunately, marketing works), then read on.

These body positivity (bopo) accounts will fill your social feeds with content that promotes and champions the human form and they're sure to help you to see past the madness of this modern day, misplaced marketing. They might even bring a warm glow to your heart at times.

So before you even think about attempting to squeeze your body into society’s “acceptable” mould, have a look at the Instagram accounts listed below. Each one shows just how absurdly unattainable modern body standards often are, and highlights the inherent beauty of the “just the way you are” alternative, á la Bruno Mars.

When it comes to lingerie and the concept of beauty I know it’s a topic that strikes a cord with a lot of women. So many feel that there are some sort of “rules”... if you don’t fit into a particular size bracket the thoughts of lingerie, femininity and confidence goes out the window. So rewrite the so called “rules”.. because life is too short.. I grew up with such a love hate relationship with both my body and fashion which is why sometimes creating your own rules and finding your own inner confidence is so important ❤️No one should feel left out of fashion or have to question their own body, their own beauty or feel the word “sexy” isn’t attainable because of their size. This is a huge part of what @simplybeuk new campaign is about and I’m so honored to be apart of because their pieces are always so size inclusive. Today they have given me something extra to help share the message even more. I want you to comment your very own #RulesRewritten fashion rule to be in with the chance of winning a £50 Simply Be voucher!❤️ I will be announcing the winner ‪on Sunday 1st April‬ (Competition closes ‪Sunday April 1st 6pm‬ UK). *T&C’s apply #ad #rulesrewritten #simplybe #bodylove

BEHIND THE SCARS : ROSIE “I was born with a squint on my left eye and had my first surgeries as a baby - following further corrections in my early teens. Alongside this the curve of my spine was increasing more and more - twisting my body - resulting in corrective surgery. In 2005 I had a RTA where I crashed a motorbike, landing on a tree stump and destroying half my face and skull. In some way, I felt all that had happened before was the universe preparing me for this life changing event. 12 years and 17 surgeries later, I am finally ready to stop hiding. I’ve been piecing my life back together like my face has been pieced back together. My scars tell my story. My eyelid is completely scarred and will never open again, but I am embracing my scars and wearing them as a map of my life.” @missmallows88
