Wondering what to do with yourself this weekend? Here are the TV shows, films and live events to tune into.

From discussing an expected award season darling to powering through your last night of secondary school and an almost-perfect Who Wants to Be a Millionaire crime, there’s so much to tune into this weekend.

ATTEND
Promising Young Woman Virtual Q&A with Carey Mulligan, 9pm Saturday

;

Hotly tipped to be an Oscar favourite, join Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell and star Carey Mulligan for Q&A about their delicious and devilish new revenge film. It follows the life of Cassie after a mysterious event that has derailed her life. A chance encounter inspires her to seek revenge in this complex, darkly funny and quip-smart look at the cliche of the angry woman.

WATCH
Quiz, 9.30pn Sunday on RTÉ One

A new three-part drama kicks off on RTÉ this weekend, telling the story of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire coughing scandal when former British army major Charles Ingram cheated his way to the one-million-pound prize. Diving into how Ingram managed to get on the show and just how deep the ploy ran, it also covers the trial that followed once the ruse was uncovered.

It’s got a great cast ( Matthew, MacFadyen, Aisling Bea, Sian Clifford and Michael Sheen to name a few) and rave reviews so it’s definitely one to check out.

STREAM
Booksmart, Netflix

Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut finally comes to Netflix. Booksmart arrived in cinemas in 2019 to rave reviews for everything from the casting and script to music and staging. Following the lives of two straight-laced high school girls who realise that the cool kids also managed to get into good universities while actually joined high school, they are determined to have one blow-out night before leaving for the summer. But they’re not really how. It’s a classic road-type movie that is hilarious and heartwarming.

A young female relationship that is both supportive and loving is juxtaposed with the teenage desire to grow and become your own person, this one will go down in the teenage movie pantheon as one of the greats. Drops on Netflix on Sunday.
