Q&A with TV host and wellness expert Amanda Byram

Amanda Byram entered the spotlight at a young age when she took the modelling world by storm. Soon after, she became a co-host for Ireland’s first ever breakfast show, Ireland AM before making her way overseas to the UK and America. Dedicated to a life of health and fitness, Amanda has also created her own popular activewear range, Body by Byram. Now, ahead of her appearance at our Beauty at Boots: Summer Body event, the 44-year-old has answered some of your burning questions.

What beauty product do you use every day?

Moisturiser. Even though my skin is quite oily, I believe that keeping it moist has kept many wrinkles at bay. I also love to keep my lips moist with Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant, which is available to buy in Boots.

Had you always had a healthy relationship with your body?

No. Far from it. I had a very bad relationship with my body and with food for most of my late teens, all the way through to my late-30s. It is something I am quite vocal about and I find that so many women resonate. It's why I now advise women on how to eat and train properly. There are so many mixed messages out there and it is hard to keep up with what is the right thing to do for our bodies (and minds).

What’s one product you would like to add to your makeup bag this summer?

Mascara that won't run and eyeliner that doesn't leak! These products tend to do that on me; finding ones that suit is difficult. I would also like to find a powder that doesn't clog up my fine lines, making me look older.

What’s the best health advice you’ve ever received?

Cut back on caffeine and alcohol. I used to do both to excess; now I take them both very minimally and in moderation. My energy levels have increased, my focus has become sharper and my skin is brighter.

Aside from beauty products, what makes you feel beautiful?

My hair. Especially when it has been blow dried or waved. It's quite long, so it tends to make me feel pretty and feminine. Whenever I have a bad haircut, it affects my day, week, and month!
