Put The Coffee Down

Matcha Latte

Put the coffee down – three natural alternatives to pick you up!

The mere thought of ditching your morning cup of Joe may have some of you suffering withdrawal symptoms already. Well, here’s some motivation to help put that mug of coffee down. It takes nearly two litres of water to neutralize a cup of coffee – meaning it dehydrates you, which raises your cortisol?levels and makes you age quicker. A healthy body has a pH of 7.3 but where does coffee rank on the scale? ?At a whopping 25.1 on the acidic side! Also, studies have shown over a thousand chemicals in a single cup of coffee?

On that note here are three natural alternatives to that cooling cup of coffee on your desk that doesn’t look quite so tempting now?

Matcha Green Tea – Matcha green tea is all the rage right now. It’s been hailed as a super powerful antioxidant, detoxifier and all round energy booster. It does contain caffeine BUT it also contains L-theanine which is a natural relaxant. Together, these two ingredients give you a steady energy release with no post-coffee jitters. Winning.

Dandelion Herbal Coffee Blend – If you really love the taste of coffee, but want a herbal caffeine-free alternative to your morning java fix then dandelion root tea is your new BFF. It tastes like quite like coffee, has more protein than spinach and improves liver and kidney function. Channel your inner hippy and try out a dandelion latte!

Chia Fresca – Anything fresca sounds good to us, and thankfully we have found a fresca recipe that isn’t full of sugar. Chia Frescas have been popular in Central America for yonks, and are a great way to boost your Omega-3 fatty acid intake and aid hydration in the morning. All you need to make your own is water, chia seeds and lemon/lime (add a sweetener like honey if you have a sweet tooth). Mix them in a glass and voila! A super energising healthy fresca!
