Planning a fairytale wedding? Dromoland Castle is the venue for you

Spring has sprung (no, really, it has) which means wedding season is officially in full swing. Dozens of loved-up couples are busy saying ‘I do’ while others eagerly plan their special day. If you’re recently engaged (huge congratulations) you may want to cast your eyes over the stunning venue that is Dromoland Castle. Whether you’re planning an intimate or magnificent affair, this castle has ‘fairytale’ written all over it.

Nestled among 450 acres of breathtaking scenery upon the shores of Lough Dromoland, County Clare, the venue is a photographer’s dream. Pose for loving snaps in one of the castle’s private gardens, or gather your wedding party for photos by the lake. Plus, with lavishly decorated rooms throughout the property, there’s no risk of rainy weather spoiling your big day.

The food

While the most important part of your day is securing the ring on your finger, finding your ideal wedding menu can sometimes be a deal-breaker. At Dromoland, the selection and quality of menu items is nothing short of exceptional. Indulge in Doolin Bay white crab with potato salad and avocado, or tuck into roast quail with a sage & shiitake stuffing – and they’re just the starters. Mains include everything from Irish beef and duck to slow-cooked salmon and swordfish. With an impressive selection of salads, soups and meat dishes, you’re sure to find many a dish to tickle your taste buds. A varied children’s menu is available too, with everything from sausage, egg and beans to tomato & mozzarella pizza.

The rooms

Ah, the rooms. Where the magic happens (and where you ditch the veil ahead of your night on the dance floor). Few hotels can rival the five-star castle accommodations at Dromoland, all of which ooze romantic charm. Enjoy bespoke furniture in the spacious staterooms and suites, with beautiful, high-end fabrics and marble ensuite bathrooms. Invite your guests to stay in the equally impressive double, twin and family rooms in the castle and nearby Dromoland Inn, with signature bathrobes, mini bar, and room service. Fresh flowers, handmade chocolates and delicious champagne are at your fingertips – simply ask and you shall receive.

The team

Wedding planning can be stressful – but not at Dromoland. The team, led by Margaret Daly, will attend to your every need (no matter how small it may be). They know the devil is in the detail, and attention to detail they pay. From scheduling your initial visit to planning your wedding day itinerary, they’ll guarantee your wedding is both magical and memorable.

The following day

You did it – you tied the knot – and the celebrations don’t end there. Enter married life in style (read: in the castle’s luxurious spa). Consisting of six treatment rooms, two dedicated manicure and pedicure rooms, and an outdoor hydro pool, let yourself be drawn into a world of deep tranquillity. Treat yourself and your partner to a hot stone massage and a soothing Elemis facial. If that’s not for you, venture out to the on-site golf course for nine or 18 holes. Alternatively, cycling and horse-riding facilities are also available within the castle grounds – so really, who needs a honeymoon, eh?

To book an appointment with Margaret or to find out more, visit dromoland.ie or call (061) 368 144.
