A new Netflix documentary about the New York mafia has landed

Our weekend viewing is sorted

Netflix has just dropped a new documentary series focused on the Mafia takedown in New York in the 1970s, from the producers of hit show Don’t F*ck With Cats.

Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia is a three-part series that follows the attempt to topple the Mafia in New York in the 1970s and 1980s. The Mafia scene at that time was headed by ‘The Five Families’ – Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese and Luccese – who held a powerful grip on the city.

Fear City, through interviews with law enforcement agents and ex-mafia associates, sheds light on how New York law enforcement attempted to overthrow the mafia’s control of unions, high-rise construction and other industries which netted billions for organized crime.

Featuring previously unheard surveillance recordings, news footage and archive material, as well as dozens of interviews, the series looks captivating, and has just landed on Netflix today.
