A new documentary by Beyoncé is coming to Netflix

Members of the Beyhive, assemble — today is a big day. Netflix have just announced that a new documentary about Beyoncé’s iconic 2018 Coachella performance is coming to the platform, made by the star herself.

The documentary, entitled Homecoming, presents an intimate look at the process of developing Beyoncé’s massive performances at the festival, from idea conception right through to production on the night. The performance paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities, with Bey donning a Letterman sweatshirt in bright colours during her routine. The documentary will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews about the intent behind the star’s vision for the performance.

The trailer gives little away, with the voiceover not even spoken by Beyoncé herself, but by the prolific black poet, writer and activist Maya Angelou. Footage in the trailer includes Bey arranging the musical performance, her daughter Blue Ivy joining in with choreography, and Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z performing on stage at Coachella.

Watch the full trailer (and get very excited) here:

Homecoming will premiere on April 17, exclusively on Netflix
