Neighbourhood spotlight: why we’re loving Sandymount village

Converging upon a little green, and located just a stone’s throw away from the seafront, Sandymount village has gained a reputation for having a wealth of high-quality shopping and dining experiences marked by a friendly, local feel.

Cast a look around and you’ll find Browne’s catering to all your brunch needs, BuJo serving up ethically-sourced burgers and Marios providing locals with hearty Italian cuisine for as long as anyone can remember. This is a village that takes great pride in quality, flavoursome food.

If you’re more on the hunt for a good frock as opposed to a good feed, then be sure to pay a visit to Serena Boutique or Cobbler’s Wardrobe. Both have a gorgeous selection of female clothing for every occasion and event.

It’s worth mentioning that when the sun shines, so too does Sandymount. There’s no lovelier sight than the village green abuzz with locals enjoying fresh air with the kids, whilst other more “delicate” souls take to the strand in an effort to blow away the cobwebs after a night out in Mulligan’s.

All in all, Sandymount village is a must-visit for any self-respecting Dub, especially on the rare occasion that the sun might peak its head out over the cloudy Irish skies.

Cobbler’s Wardrobe

Cobblers Wardrobe is a pre-loved designer boutique and shoe/handbag repair service for Isaac Jackman Shoe Repairs. Owner Hollie Creedon welcomes all kinds of unworn or gently used designer, vintage and unique pieces. Her stock is ever changing so you’ll be sure to find something different every time you visit.

The Butler’s Pantry

Twice each day, the shelves of The Butler’s Pantry’s are stocked with freshly-baked breads and pastries which (if you time it right) might still be warm when you pop in. Niamh and her team will look after you with whatever you need when cooking is not an option. With everything from soups, savoury dishes, sides and desserts, you can ensure that you get a delicious, wholesome feed regardless how busy you might be.

Serena Boutique

This Irish-owned womenswear boutique stocks a gorgeous array of sophisticated female fashion and accessories, including labels like French Connection and Gant. The staff are known for being attentive and the atmosphere in the shop is calm and welcoming.

Brownes

This is a great foodie venue with a particularly good buzz on a Sunday morning. Coffee lovers, sweet tooth fiends and the egg-obsessed should all be happy here, as will those looking to read their morning paper alongside a backdrop of tinkling music and gentle chatter. It also doubles as a French bistro by night. 

Marios

This is hearty Italian cuisine at its most satisfying, with hefty portions to boot. The decor in Marios is quaint and gives the whole dining experience a distinctly authentic feel. What’s more, the venue is kid-friendly, making it a great option for young families.

BuJo

The newest kid to the Sandymount scene, BuJo has been dubbed a “sustainable counter service burger joint with a twist”. This “twist” may be referring to the grass-fed patties (all cooked fresh to order), the vegan burgers on the menu, or maybe it’s the certified compostable packaging. BuJo also offers bottomless Glenilen Farm Cordials (all free from preservatives & additives), and don’t get us started on the ice cream sandwich…

Dunne & Crescenzi

Owners Eileen Dunne and Stefano Crescenzi have been providing Dubliners with top quality Italian food and wines ever since the mid-nineties, and their Sandymount eatery is testament to that. The combination of authentic dishes and the rustic, classy atmosphere makes this restaurant a prime location for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, or catch-up with friends over something delicious.

Pete’s

If you enjoy a bit of live music alongside your dinner, then look no further than Pete’s. This small but mighty establishment knows how to keep their customers happy with their delicious woodfired pizzas and fantastic weekend performances. The relaxed, polished setting makes Pete’s a great place to kick back after a busy week at work.

Mulligan’s bar and restaurant is the perfect place for pre-walk bites, post-match drinks and all things in between. There’s an authentic Irish pub feel that is matched by a wide selection of beers, ciders, wines and cocktails.

The Line Out Bar at the Sandymount Hotel

The Line Out Bar is the closest bar to Aviva Stadium, Ireland’s home to International Rugby and Soccer, and has earned a reputation with sports fans for delicious food, great service and a lively atmosphere. With an outdoor terrace overlooking stunning landscaped gardens, The Line Out Bar is always a good option when the summer months allow for dining al fresco.
