It’s here! Make the most of the bank holiday with our guide to What’s On

It’s Friday, it’s beautiful out, but by some divine intervention, you are sitting on a phone or computer reading on the internet. But not for long — we’ve got your guide to three of the best ways to spend the last long weekend we’ll see this summer. Make the most of it! Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Saturday and Sunday: Get to the water at Beatyard

If you’re a long-time reader of our What’s On guides, you know how much we recommend the various goings-on at Eatyard at the Bernard Shaw. But this weekend, they’re taking it up a notch, and bringing the delicious and chilled vibes of Eatyard to Dun Laoghaire pier for a summer festival by the beach. And with the line-up, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend your weekend — Groove Armada, Soulé and CHVRCHES are all taking the stage, along with many more amazing acts. Tickets are still available from €59 for a one-day ticket.

On Saturday: Get thrifty at the George’s Fabulous Market

A stalwart of the Saturday scene at the George, A Fabulous Market is a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Dublin. Brimming with Irish design and crafts from all over the country, as well as some really fun additions like tarot card reading and live music, it’s a great way to escape the high street shopping scene — plus, it’s family-friendly too.

All weekend: Get a different view at the GAZE International LGBT Film Festival

Representation in the media, including cinema, is more important now than ever, and festivals like GAZE, which focuses on bringing LGBT productions to the forefront, is an amazing way to gain new and exciting points of view on the big screen. With stunning stories such as Mapplethorpe, A Girl’s Band and Light in the Water, as well as workshops and Q+A’s, the festival is set to be one of the most interesting in the summer calendar.
