Madonna, tattoos and a big BBQ - What's On this weekend sounds like fun

Storm Ernesto is apparently on its way to Irish shores this weekend, but that's not stopping us from finding the fun that's huddled away in Dublin city. From checking out the talent (artistically speaking) at the Tattoo Convention to laughing along with the kids at Mrs. Doubtfire in Marlay Park (weather permitting), this weekend will definitely not be dampened. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Saturday: Get your Madonna fix at a screening of Desperately Seeking Susan at the Sugar Club

I feel like I'm including the Sugar Club in every What's On guide these days, but as long as they keep screening 80s movies, I'll be there. Celebrating the Queen of Pop's 60th birthday this week, Saturday night sees the Dublin club screen the iconic Desperately Seeking Susan, which, if for nothing else, is worth seeing for the 80s New York fashion alone. Sequin blazers and crimped hair aplenty.

This weekend: Get inked at the Dublin Tattoo Convention

Got the itch for some new ink? The good folks at the Dublin Tattoo Convention have got you covered (literally). Thousands of tattoo enthusiasts will descend on the Convention Centre this weekend to get the inside scoop on tattoo trends, new artists, ideas and tattoo culture, with some of the world's biggest and best artists there to show off their wares. Even if you're not in the market for some new tatts, it would still be one of the most interesting weekends of the year.

This weekend: Get the feed in at the Big Grill Festival

Featuring some of the UK and Ireland's best chefs, the Big Grill festival is no ordinary BBQ. Celebrating its fifth year, the Big Grill is all about the art of smoke cooking, so if you're a fan of all things meaty, craft beer-y and summery, head to Herbert Park every day til Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday: Bring the family to the Outdoor Movies at Marlay Park

If Storm Ernesto holds off, it'll be the perfect excuse to head to Marlay Park this weekend to catch some open-air movies with the family. The schedule includes classics like Grease and Mrs Doubtfire, as well as new hits like Jumanji 2 and Coco, so there's something for everyone. If you live near the park, even better - pop in and out all day to see your favourites.

Next week: Be sweet at Decoy's Candyland

If you're a Dublin street art fan, chances are you're familiar with Decoy's work. The muralist will be hosting an exhibition at Lucky's bar on Meath Street from next week, with the grand opening on Thursday. The exhibition deals with experimenting with colour, abstract shapes, and the 'candylands' we create on social media. Sounds right up our street.
