Made in Chelsea's J1 Summer

MIC hits NYC...

If there's one thing Made in Chelsea understands it's our appetite for upper class accented ridiculousness, and irony. Last season's teaser trailer replaced the constantly childlike Londoners with actual juveniles and for the summer season excursion to New York - for which we cannot wait - the whole team got in the self-aware act with this super dramatic video. Amidst epic tension-packed music, all our favourite characters lend a philosophical sentence or two to the monologue:??What is life? Life is New York. City of dreams. Land of hope. Sidewalks. Fire hydrants. But we are Chelsea. Walk with dates. Ridiculous party themes. Randomly bumping into each other. A lot.?

Cue shots of Lucy Watson and company frolicking around the city in a way you did not manage while J1ing and trying to contact a second cousin's cousin for work in a bar in Queens. Of course all this dramedy is topped off with an ?unnecessarily naked? Jamie Laing covering his privates with a bottle of MIC NYC, ?a brand new flagrance.?

While the bottle of scent appearing at the end of the trailer is obviously tongue-in-cheek we wouldn't be surprised if shops this Christmas stocked a Made in Chelsea beauty line. Just imagine it - hair oils to nourish that glossy lounge lizard mane as sported by Spencer Matthews. Tanning products to help you get that ?Oh, I'm just back from Greece via Monte Carlo? look. Some plum and nude lips to help channel our inner Rosie Fortescues. Shampoo and conditioner that scream Cheska. The MIC cast have already shown themselves to be financially canny, with Rosie launching a lingerie line called Cheek Frills with her sister, available in Brown Thomas, and Lucy publishing her first book earlier this summer, The Dating Game. Oliver Proudlock is quite the entrepreneur and actually does seem to work for a living.

The rise of reality television has seen a lot of double-jobbing among stars with secondary careers being helped along by a few staged plots and plenty of tabloid appearance. And it's not just UK-based. This week saw pronouncing Gigi Hadid, a daughter of one of The Real Housewives of New York, the next Kate Upton. The American style bible is predicting that Gigi's modeling career, which is already pretty good with Tom Ford campaigns as well a spot on the Pirelli calendar, will explode in the coming months.

Made in Chelsea returns August 4th. Will you be watching? Or do the residents of NW1 need to take a television holiday?
