Tonight’s Late Late Show to include special segment on Temple Street children’s hospital

Tonight’s Late Late Show line-up has been announced and it promises to be an inspiring one. If you’re staying in for a night on the couch, the episode is worth a watch; and if you’re heading out for a night on the town, it’s worth hitting ‘record’.

The long-running RTÉ chat show is set to welcome children who have undergone life-saving treatment at Temple Street children’s hospital. Host Ryan Tubridy will also chat with the children’s families; as well as hear from the Temple Street medical team.

The heart of children’s healthcare in Ireland

Temple Street is at the heart of children’s healthcare in Ireland. The hospital cares for 150,000 children per year, including over 45,000 who attend the emergency department annually.

Opened more than 140 years ago, Temple Street has come to specialise in all matters of pediatric care. Specialities today include neonatal and paediatric surgery; neurology; neurosurgery; nephrology; orthopaedics; ENT and plastic surgery.

Not only that, but it also houses the national centre for paediatric ophthalmology; the national airways management centre; the national meningococcal laboratory; the national centre for inherited metabolic disorders; the national newborn screening service; and the Irish meningitis and sepsis reference laboratory – to name but a few.

Tonight’s Late Late will highlight the incredible work being done at Temple Street, as well as the personal stories of children attending there.

Also on tonight’s Late Late Show

Fashion designer Paul Costelloe will be talking about this year’s London Fashion Week, which has just come to an end; as well as the political undertones of his latest collection.

After that, champion jockey Ruby Walsh and his wife Gillian will join Ryan to discuss life in racing. Gillian will also explain why she finds watching him race so stressful.

Meanwhile, music on tonight’s show will be provided by Irish country singer Mike Denver and songwriter David Keenan.
