Kelly Clarkson Was “Blackmailed” Into Working With Kesha’s Producer

Kelly Clarkson Was “Blackmailed” Into Working With Kesha’s Producer

Following the horrifying and completely abysmal court ruling that forces Kesha to continue working for and with her alleged abuser, fellow singer Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her own experience with Dr. Luke, the producer that Kesha?accuses of’sexual, emotional and verbal abuse over a ten year period.

“A lot of artists that have worked with him don’t work with him anymore for pretty good, solid reasons,” Clarkson said of Luke during a radio interview. “He’s not a good person to me. We’ve clashed.” He has previously worked with Clarkson on her hits Since You’ve Been Gone and My Life Would Suck Without You, but the expectant singer insists she was left no choice in the matter.

“Even the last time I worked with him I only worked with him because literally I got blackmailed by my label,” Clarkson said. “They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this.'” The American Idol alum said she had to “swallow that pill” and record with Luke because she needed to support her crew. She added that the producer “never did anything” of a sexual nature to her, and that she isn’t aware of what went on between him and Kesha, but actively supports her.

And’she did point out?the fact the so many artists refuse to work with Luke is a sign in itself. “Unfortunately, that poor of character – I mean so many artists don’t like you, don’t like working with you – that’s not normal,” she explained.

“He just lied a lot. I’ve run into a couple really bad situations. Musically, it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people and it makes the artist look bad,” she said. “And he’s kind of difficult to work with, he’s kind of demeaning and he’s talented, but not a good guy.”

Luke denies all charges, and?the judge has yet to make a ruling on them.

The entire scenario is just awful. Young women in the music industry?are essentially being forced to work with powerful men (or a man in this case) who make them uncomfortable or, allegedly, even abuse them.

Sources say that Clarkson’s team did reach out to Luke in the past, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Meanwhile, celebrities have rallied around Kesha, tweeting support and Taylor Swift even donated $250,000 to help her pay her legal fees. Kesha tearfully accepted an award for her stance against harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth in Nashville at the weekend.

“Don’t be afraid to speak up against any injustice you experience,” she said. “Don’t let people scare or shame you into changing the things about you that make you unique.”
