Jennifer Lawrence To Start Directing

Jennifer Lawrence’s acting skills are flawless. Ever since she came to critical attention in the harrowing Winter’s Bone, she has delivered with each and every role. She brought humanity to dystopian blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games?and walked away with an Oscar for her emotionally naked performance in Silver Linings Playbook. Last summer news broke she was collaborating with comedian Amy Schumer on a screenplay about sisters. Now, Lawrence’s next move shows she’s what you’d call a triple threat as she announces she is moving behind the camera to direct a movie.

The actress revealed her plans to Entertainment Weekly, saying the intended project is ready to go. She told the publication,??I’ve signed on to direct something called?Project Delirium ??it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the €60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.? The original article initially appeared in the New Yorker and told the story of military doctors running experiments on soldiers during the Cold War.

Lawrence kept her ambitions to direct under wraps for years. The 25-year-old claims she has wanted to direct since she was a teenager, but she’s a doer rather than a talker so is only coming clean now. It helps that she’s spent the past few years accumulating so much on-set experience, forming a close working bond with?David O’ Russell, the director who has worked with Lawrence on Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and the upcoming Joy. Jennifer feels like now is the perfect time for her to make career strides, ?If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.?

While we wait for Lawrence’s directorial debut, we’ve still got her consistently fabulous acting to gaze upon. Here’s the trailer for her next Oscar contender, Joy. Joy is a movie inspired by the life of Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop. It looks rather amazing and will be in cinemas after Christmas.
