Jennifer Aniston Is A People Pleaser At Work

Jennifer Aniston Is A People Pleaser At Work

Even the most successful people will have what we call “blunders” on the ladder to career success. Celebrities are not excluded from this as Jennifer Aniston can attest. In her latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Cake star admits that during her varied work as an actress, she was a people pleaser, particularly in the early days. She couldn’t say no and now freely says she regrets?one or two projects as a result.?”There was a time when I worked and worked and worked. I loved it,” she says, but she’s now learning the art of saying?no. “I’m trying to be better at that.?I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I’ve got to stop. Some of the movies I’ve made, I bow my head in slight shame over.”

One of the many reasons we love Jen: she keeps it real. How many of us have bowed our heads in equal shame starting out on the shaky steps to achieving our career goals?

“There was a time when I worked and worked and worked. I loved it,” she said, adding that she’s now learning the art of saying?no. “I’m trying to be better at that.?I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I’ve got to stop. Some of the movies I’ve made, I bow my head in slight shame over.”

While her movies post-Friends haven’t always triumphed at the box office, she’s made some gems: The Good Girl, Bruce Almighty, and Picture Perfect anyone? So watchable and Sunday-night-in enjoyable.

At 47-years-old, the actress explained she is more selective when it comes to taking a job though she’s as busy as ever – Forbes reports that she was the fifth highest paid actress in 2015 – and she has to really believe in a project before committing to it.

“I really [have]?to love something to be leaving my home, my dogs, my husband. The older you get, the more you realise that.”

With a CV seeped in hit comedies such as We’re The Millers and Horrible Bosses, Aniston is ready for’darker and?edgier roles such as her lead part as a chronic-pain sufferer?in 2014’s Cake but said that her long affiliation with Friends?and regular appearances in films that are lighter in tone and subject means that these aren’t always easy to get.

“People forget who actors are. They say, ‘You’re too known to play that part. You can’t disappear.’ And we’re like, ‘Give us a chance. We’ll disappear.'”

?“There’s a steadiness, for sure, but also this desire to peel away more. You know, like ‘F**k?it.’ ”

“You have to start taking chances in an industry that’s very insecure about taking chances on people,” she adds of her desire to take on different projects.

Aniston has just finished filming?Iraq War drama? The Yellow Birds, in which she plays the mother of a troubled young soldier and is also starring alongside Julia Roberts,?Kate Hudson and?Jason Sudeikis in?Mother’s Day which is out next month.

She also commented on her marriage to handsome actor Justin Theroux (the pair wed in secret last year) and revealed she is as happy as she’s ever been.

?Married life is so normal and fun and not much different,? Aniston added. ?We felt married for so long.?
