Ireland international footballer Clare Shine receiving assistance following missing person appeal

Irish football star Clare Shine has been found and is receiving assistance following a missing person appeal yesterday

Republic of Ireland striker Clare Shine has been found following a missing person appeal.

An alert was sent out earlier yesterday for the 25-year-old after her whereabouts became unknown. The Cork native is now receiving assistance.

She was last seen in Roslin, Midlothian in Scotland. Her club Glasgow City launched an appeal to the public for their help in locating Clare.

Yesterday evening the club confirmed that Clare had been found, tweeting: “We have reassuring information about Clare’s whereabouts and she has assistance.”

“Thank you to everyone who helped. You made such a difference. We will say more when we can.”

Clare herself tweeted last night from a hospital bed saying: “I’m struggling and that’s ok. I’ll be back.”

She has spoken previously about mental health issues and has urged others to seek help if they are in need.

The post was met with over a thousand beautiful and kind comments from people sending their support to Clare. Her fellow Ireland teammate Katie McCabe wrote, “We’ve got you.”

While another user replied: “You’ll never know how much you were on the minds of so many total strangers today. Across different accounts, there were hundreds of tweets and over ten thousand RTs. I don’t know if you can draw strength from that but a lot of people will have your back any time you ask.”

If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact the Samaritans helpline 116 123, Aware helpline 1800 80 48 48 or Pieta House on 1800 247 247
